What is CDK4/6 Pathway?

Cyclin-dependent kinase 4 and 6, or CDK4/6, are protein enzymes that play a key role in signaling pathways inside cells that control normal cell growth. A variety of factors can influence this signaling pathway, leading to faster cell growth and potentially normal cells growing without control and becoming cancerous.

Given the key role of CDK4/6 within this signaling pathway, Fortunately, there are cancer treatments such as CDK4/6 inhibitors, which are designed to target CDK4/6 enzymes to stop or slow the growth of the cancer by turning off the signals that tell cells to grow.
